The simplest of ideas are usually the best. Take the ball for example. It’s nothing more than a round thing filled with air, but it has offered us entertainment for centuries. The idea behind the iShear app is quite simple as well – what you have to do is shear some sheep. It may sound simple, but keep the ball example in mind; sometimes the simplest ideas are best.

There are several game modes you could try out:

Speed mode – in this game mode you have to shear sheep as fast you can; you’re basically competing against the clock to see how many sheep you can shear. It’s not as easy as it sounds since the darn sheep won’t sit still. Once you’re done with one sheep, the next one bounces around even faster, making it increasingly difficult to shear it.

Herd mode – in this game mode you have to shear an entire heard of sheep. Several sheep are bouncing around the screen and you must shear them all.

Precision mode – in this game mode you must make sure not to double-shear sheep. Just like in Herd mode, several sheep are bouncing around on the screen and you must shear them all. The catch is that you must not touch the sheep you’ve already sheared.

Magic mode – in this game mode you have to stay clear of the fly and the bee. If you touch them, the sheep will either shrink or it will bounce around very rapidly.

Is the idea behind this game simple? Yes, yes it is quite simple. Is the game not amusing because of it? Not at all! This game looks very well, puts several game modes at your disposal, pits you against other players, and can prove to be addictive. I didn’t notice when it got me hooked; what I did notice was that several hours had passed since I started playing it.

So to sum it up, this game is based on a simple principle (shearing sheep), looks good, and is incredibly entertaining.
